Saves work, you have to wait till you reach a save point. First save isn’t until after you have dinner with everyone, the next morning you save at the main character’s chest of drawers in your bedroom, you’ll find your character’s diary there to save. I believe it also auto saves when you reach these save points in case you forget to save manually but you cant save anytime/anywhere. If you quit out before reaching this first save then yeah, you will have to start over.
Best game ever, defo buying it, sadly original game on PC emulator is much much better (turbo mode and many other things)
Agreed, Turbo mode and save states to save anywhere but this version has better visuals for sure and its still great to have on PC for people who don’t mess with emulation. I also heard they fixed some of the story and translation in this version.

Don’t know if my earlier post about the game not working gets posted but its not broke, Im an idiot, my SSD was throwing up errors, not the game. Also, the save function works fine. There is no save anywhere/anytime in this game, you have to save manually at certain spots. First save area is in main character’s bedroom, the next morning after your dad leaves. Go to your nightstand and it will open up your diary to save.
Those are remastered masterpieces… but from the 90s playstation 1 era.
So they are old as can be. Worth playing if you never did, but considering suikoden 1 is around 30 years old, some of the older gamers have already played it.
