   It’s sad that developers use voxel graphics like they’re the next big thing… When they’re really a step backwards. Moreso with “games” like these that barely live up, mechanics-wise, to games from back when vortex games were the cool new thing.

    Nobody’s using voxels like they’re ‘the next big thing’. They’re using them because they’re something relatively new and can be used in interesting ways when done right (see Housemarque Games for examples). Everyone, including the developers using voxel techniques, know that voxels are a fad just like Cel-Shading was. Eventually, just like Cel-Shading, voxels will find a niche and remain there like all the other effects before did.
