   This game just released and has no takers. This isn’t the first time I have seen this. I wonder, sometimes if the Dev’s themselves don’t their games on pirate sites just to get some attention. Not hating, just wondering.

     Thats actually doing it right. Found more gems browsing here than on steam releases, bought a few.

     And if the game is successful, it disappears from the site a few days later. I have already thought about it and have seen it several time

     I work in the industry and pioneered that technique back in 2010-2011. I’m sure someone did it before me, but I was most likely the first consultant to help developers gain some awareness through the piracy scene. I was also someone who advised them to release new content with each patch so that pirates who enjoyed the game would become inconvenienced by ing each patch manually and might buy the game. I now regret that decision.

     Anyway, I handled piracy previews for more than 10 indies and one mid-size release directly and advised at least 2 dozen others on the “best practices” to manage a campaign on their own. I also advised 3 of those games to abandon their release and rework their games based on from pirate players. They ignored it and had commercial failures. To be fair, most indies fail anyway but ignoring your data is a great way to turn a 10% chance at success into a 0% chance.

   Its not like “devs” that bought some same assests, made a shity game, and then ed it themselves to piracy sites would take the extra step of making fake comments saying the game is awesome and worth buying, am i right
